Considering Abortion

When facing an unplanned pregnancy, abortion may seem like your only option. Before you move forward with this choice, you should educate yourself about abortion. There are two main types of abortion:

MEDICAL ABORTION

Medication abortion also called the abortion pill, can be taken up to 70 days (10 weeks pregnant). The pill ( two drugs, mifepristone and misoprostol) is taken in two doses, one typically at a doctor’s office and the other at home.

Surgical ABORTION

There are several types of surgical abortions. Suction aspiration, also called suction curettage, or vacuum aspiration abortion, is performed during the first 6 to 16 weeks gestation. Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) is another type of procedure typically done in later weeks. Both types have risks and side-effects and greatly vary depending on your gestation and health.

Abortion Is Not An Easy Solution

You should know that abortion carries with it a lifetime of emotional trauma. None of the decisions in an unplanned pregnancy are easy. Abortion is not an easy fix to the problem either. Many women experience feelings of regret, loss, and depression. Far too many women bear the emotional scars of abortion for its emotional effects to be ignored. When considering abortion, one must weigh the emotional effects as much as the physical ones. If you have had an abortion before and you would like healing from your abortion, there are programs to help women with post-abortive healing. Here are some programs we recommend to pursue post-abortive healing:
